Wide awake during Play+Music.
Now that winter is over, the warm clothes have been packed away. Actually, we never had much of a winter here in Austin, so in actuality, I should say “Now that the days of weather under 70 degrees are over…” You know what I mean. Every night, Blake would wear footed jammies to bed, and because I thought they were so darn cute, there were days that he would wear them around the house too. Ok, I’ll admit it- I even took him out in them. They are so comfy, and I don’t have to risk losing any more socks. (We have lost about 20 of those darn little things.)
But, he sleeps during Spanish afterwards.
Now, I put him in onesies. Or, we go all whiskey tango (the polite verbiage for saying “white trash”) and he slumbers in just his diaper. Thing is, I can’t seem to find any pajamas for my little man, that are short sleeved, or made of a thin material. I saw a pair in Gymboree, but they were $34.50. I’m not the kind of girl to spend over 30 bucks on one pair of jammies, if you know what I mean. I’m cheap like that. Besides, I don’t understand the pricing on baby clothes. Smaller scraps of fabric should equate to lower prices, right? I spend more on Ailane’s clothes than my own, and at this point, Blake is the most expensively garbed person in the house. The only living creature smaller than him is that damn Guinea pig, and I’m spending money on clothes for something that should never have entered our house.
I went to Target tonight, and saw rows and rows of cute, pink and purple girl stuff. Head to the sleepwear section, and see the wide array of gowns, jammies, and even cute pink slippers. (Why are there more clothes for girls than for boys? Don’t they know that women love to shop for boys also?) Head to the three rows of boy stuff, and the one, lonely rack of sleepwear for boys. It was jammies, all silkscreened in Disney’s Cars. I’m sorry, but I can’t do this. I know MY DAY WILL COME when all that he will wear will be Superman Costumes during the day, and character jammies at night. I get it. I’ve been there- Ailane used to wear ONLY DRESSES, and those cheap plastic dress-up shoes. She would click-clack through the house, and in public, with pink glittery shoes on. Whatever. It made her happy. At night, she would want to wear the SAME BARBIE GOWN over and over. And, over. And, if I washed it, then it would lose glitter on Butterfly Barbie’s wings. AND THE WORLD WOULD END.
So, my question is this. Those of you with little men, what do you dress them in at night? If you have cute jammies, where did you get them?
Hey
Have you tried looking at Carters? They usually have pj sets that are short sleeved and even some that come with shorts. Cute, not too expensive and sometimes you can even get two for one. Another place I always find seasonally appropriate sleepwear is the children’s place. And I don’t find them to be unreasonably priced!
We still use sleepers. Once it gets warm enough outside to put our son in something lighter weight, the air will be on and it will still be cool in the house.
I agree that I won’t do the Disney thing until my son requests it.
I love Old Navy pajamas. They are usually around $12.50 for a pair and if you buy some out of season they are usually half that. They are also really cute!!
We do just a onesie if it’s REALLY warm, but mostly cotton long sleeve footie pj’s right now. How do you feel about sleeping gowns? Those are another alternative.
Target has the WORST baby boy selection ever. It makes me so angry every time we’re there.
Bird still sleeps in the footie pajamas. I found a pack of 3 for $8.88 at Target. They are pretty thin.
However, we have been known to just sleep in a diaper too. He gets so hot in the bed with us, that I strip him down after his first stint of sleep in his cradle.
Honestly? We don’t wear many clothes at our house. Onesies and footie pj’s are about it. And we have a pair of overalls.
Carters, Carters, Carters. Do you have a Prime Outlets near you? At the Carter’s outlet, I get 3 piece jammies (that’s shirts, shorts, and long pants) for $12, and they last through two kids.
It’s worked so far, and my oldest is nearly 4.
Just looked it up for you … Prime Outlets San Marcos has a Carter’s outlet. Trust, me it’s worth the drive. We go once in the spring and once in the fall, and buy everything we need for about $100.
Have fun!
I agree Carters should have some. I also have a few 2 piece (shorts and short sleeves) that I got at BRU, but that was 5yrs ago. You could also check Ebay for Gymboree to see if it’s cheaper.
yes to Carter’s and Old Navy (but they can be spotty and seasonal).
I agree with your other comments that the outlet mall is your best bet. It never get’s better with the boy departments. I don’t understand why because us mom’s love to buy for our boys too!
Our carters had all summer jammies on sale this week for $9 a pair, and I had a coupon, so I got a bunch for $7 a pair, which is pretty good. If you want I can email you a coupon too, if you have a store near you. Lots of others stores carry Carters also- BRU, Kohl’s, JCPenny, Macy’s.
Just found your blog through another friend’s blog. I put my little boy in gowns, but he is only 6 weeks old. We also shop at Carters…such great deals usually. Especially if you sign up online, they email you awesome coupons.
Hey there! I saw your comment on a post at Bloggy Giveaway…..don’t you just love her blog? Anyway, thought I’d let you know I was browsing around. Take care. http://www.shaneshares.blogspot.com
I used to just put my son to bed in a t shirt and diaper. Easier to change him in the middle of the night. Now that he is almost 4, he still sleeps like that.
Gurllll….check out Target. 2 ss tops and 2 shorts bottoms for about $14. They had the boys sets opposite the girls sets at mine. I bought some for the girls just last week. Good Luck!
I’ve got two boys. The first is 13 so I don’t really remember where I got a lot of his baby stuff but the other one is just 2. I refuse to pay full price for stuff for him and I’m a name brand whore. When he was tiny like yours I loved to shop for him at Carter’s. they always had the cutest little jammies. Also Old Navy usually has cute little sets that are practically see through. Look on eBay for some Gymboree too. You can find good deals on baby stuff there!
By the way, I found your blog through DadGoneMad. I’ve posted a complete list of everyone who left their blog link in a post called Blog Rolling With My Homies over on my blog, so if you want to see it come on over and sit a spell. I don’t bite..…that hard anyway!
We use a long sleeved onsie and a sleepsack. A pain I know, but it’s working and he sleeps through the night. Why change if it is working.
I have 2 nephews that I spoil like crazy and buy them character pj’s from the Disney store, and you can get them online too, when they are $3.99 a pair, and most of the time they have a special on shipping. They have long and short styles, and you just have to keep checking back on the site. Once you order from them though, they send you emails all the time for their sales. And if you can anticipate size, you can buy several sizes ahead of time.
Old Navy. But you gotta get there at the right time, or they won’t have any. Mine sleeps in long jammies, but once the weather gets warm at night we turn the air on, so its still cool. My kids wear long jammies year round.
I usually see short sleeeved stuff at major department stores… JCPenney, Kohls.
Carters are great. JCPenney carries them. You can get a 3 piece set with a short sleeved shirt, shorts and long pants. Right now online they have them for 15$ i think.
I used to put my son in a pair of boxers (Old Navy and Baby Gap had a good selection) and a t-shirt. He’s nine now and still sleeps in boxers. Just not sure if they make them in smaller sizes, but it’s worth a shot.
